Rudra – Gita – Remedy

Rudra mantra is also popularly known as the MahaMrityunjaya Mantra, and it is found in the Veda, such as Rigveda (RV 7.59.12). This unique mantra is also found in the Yajurveda (TS 1.8.6.i; VS 3.60). I offer my prostrated humble obeisances unto the lotus feet of Lord Rudra, and by His causeless mercy, one can glorify the Supreme Lord in relationship to Lord Rudra. This mantra is widely used by various sects of people in the world for purification, perfection, and happiness.

Om Haum Joom Sah!! Om Bhur Bhuvah Svah!!

ॐ त्र्य॑म्बकं यजामहे सु॒गन्धिं॑ पुष्टि॒वर्ध॑नम् ।

उ॒र्वा॒रु॒कमि॑व॒ बन्ध॑नान् मृ॒त्योर्मुक्षीय॒ मा ऽमृता॑त् ।

sūta uvāca

yaṁ brahmā varuṇendra-rudra-marutaḥ stunvanti divyaiḥ stavair

vedaiḥ sāṅga-pada-kramopaniṣadair gāyanti yaṁ sāma-gāḥ

dhyānāvasthita-tad-gatena manasā paśyanti yaṁ yogino

yasyāntaṁ na viduḥ surāsura-gaṇā devāya tasmai namaḥ

Sūta Gosvāmī said: Unto that personality whom Brahmā, Varuṇa, Indra, Rudra, and the Maruts praise by chanting transcendental hymns and reciting the Vedas with all their corollaries, pada-kramas and Upaniṣads, to whom the chanters of the Sāma Veda always sing, whom the perfected yogīs see within their minds after fixing themselves in a trance and absorbing themselves within Him, and whose limit can never be found by any demigod or demon — unto that Supreme Personality of Godhead I offer my humble obeisances.

In Yajur Veda, Adhyaya 39, it is mentioned that “bhavasya kannyechha rudrasyonta parsyam mahadevasya yakrrchhesye vanisnu puritatah,” meaning – Bhava is what is on the throat, Rudra is what is between the ribs: Mahadeva is the liver, Sarva is the rectum, Pashupati is the pericardium. Yajurveda is meant for the fire sacrifice and ultimately pleased to the Supreme Lord via the agency of demigods. The yoga practice is more recommended to attain the goal, the master of all such yogis is Lord Shiva, as he is the best yoga practitioner known as Yogīśvara. Lord Krishna is the master of all yogic siddhis and bestower to all yogis and known as Yogeśvara.

In Rg Veda, it is mentioned in Rudra’s glorification, “O Rudra, through the cures administered by you, may we pass through a hundred winters. Drive away from us .haters. Wreck our sins and destroy the spreading of sicknesses.” (Rig Veda II.33.2
